On 15 March 1919, Azerbaijan and Georgia arranged mail exchanges, money transfers, important letters, and forward. On April 6, 1920, Azerbaijan and Iran established postal and telegraph connections. Azerbaijan's post office began rapidly expanding in the 1920s, and statistics have grown considerably since 1913. If there were 19 communications subjects and 3 million letters sent in 1913, these figures increased by 59 and 5 million, respectively. In 1997, the Ministry of Communications formed Azer Express Post, the forerunner of which is the Production Association "Azerpochta" (now the State Enterprise "Azer Post").
