The Post of Nicaragua Correos de Nicaragua is a legal entity formed in 1993 as a company whose capital belongs to the executive power of the State of Nicaragua and is under private law and works on the national postal market. They are the country's largest distributor of regular and business mails, parcels, and packages; focused on modernization and direct strategic distribution. They have a human staff with significant expertise and a strong commitment to the customers' goals. They are the only business offering 12 services in general in the industry. Nicaragua Postal Stamps and Universal Postal Union Integration The first postal agency in Nicaragua opened its doors in the city of Managua in the year 1879. The postal network would subsequently extend to the towns of Corinto, Chinandega, León, and Granada under Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Zelaya's administration. Nicaragua was one of America's first nations to produce postal stamps; its virtue is also to include countries and natural themes. The stamps traditionally include pictures of the monarchs seen by the first stamp 'EL FENNY NEGRO' which reflects Queen Victoria. The first imprint of Nicaragua was produced years after the first imprint issued by Brazil in 1862, and it was awarded the first stamp in America: 'EL OJO DEL OJO DEL OJO' Nicaragua joined the Universal Postal Union in 1890. This enabled Nicaragua's postal integration to destinations like Europe and the other Union Member States. Before Nicaragua became a member of the UPU, exports were restricted to certain regions such as Central America and the United States. Shipments from beyond these areas were to be sent through the English colony in Nicaragua's Caribbean Autonomous Region "GRENTOMN" (now San Juan de Nicaragua). Their goal is to provide quality, security, affordability, and durability universal postal services and associated services to ensure the satisfaction of a varied and evolving postal market.
